Lyon Township saw turnout as high as 75 percent in the southeast corner of the community and the lowest in the northwest corner with 37 percent turnout. 'We changed precincts two years ago and we'll change them again. 'The township is growing, so much we need to make voters aware to check where they vote,' Cash said. Some people, however, were confused about where their local precincts were located. Residents voted at a 'steady' rate all day, she said. Michele Cash, Lyon Township clerk, said she saw the same thing in the township. South Lyon's voter turnout ranged from 38-50 percent by precinct. 'Many people were surprised at the turnout,' she said. Lisa Deaton, South Lyon City Clerk/Treasurer said there was a steady flow of voters all day at the city precincts. Voter turnout overall was strong with about 48 percent of registered voters in Oakland County casting ballots. 'I always said I would be fine as a one term person because we were going to make change. 'I'm very proud of all the things we've accomplished in the last few years,' Gusick said Tuesday evening, clearly disappointed in the results. Gusick tallied 16 percent of the vote while challengers Georganne Ehlert and Daniel Schwegler picked up 11 and 9 percent, respectively. He said he was excited to learn the role of trustee and how the board can work best together. 'I would like to get in there and learn the things I need to learn and spend more time listening and figuring things out versus coming in and being very vocal about things I might want.' 'It's exciting to have the opportunity to serve the community this way,' he said. I'm so grateful people put their trust in me.'Ībbate said he's ready to get started, having attended most of the school board meetings as a spectator this year. I'm also a big supporter of the administration. 'There are a lot of parents who sometimes think we don't listen. 'Getting people involved is what the board needs to do,' she said. She has tried to get people involved with the board. I've tried to be a voice for people, and I think what I've done has worked.' 'I'm pretty shocked,' McCusker said after the results were in Tuesday evening.
